Awoke In The Early Days of a Better World

A 1 track ambient single (4m 54s) — released August 21st 2020 on Athens Of The North

'Awoke In The Early Days Of A Better World' is the second track taken from Andrew Wasylyk's forthcoming album, 'Fugitive Light And Themes Of Consolation' (follow-up to 2019's SAY Award shortlisted, 'The Paralian').

Here, trumpet and trombone glide in a gentle hymn of hope above the crisp kick and snare of a vintage CR-78 drum machine. Elsewhere, slow-motion clarinets harmonise and pulse to the echoes of an ornate cor anglais line. Wasylyk's conclusion cascades and consoles us with waves of rolling clàrsach harp and plucked acoustic guitar, at once channelling the mellifluous grace of John Barry and the pure spiritual-jazz joy of Alice Coltrane.

This is a piece that evokes images of youth, nature and light. Three symbols of optimism for the path ahead.
